Serviced Apartment or Hotel for a Delhi Business Trip?
Booking a work trip to Delhi NCR for 3 to 10 nights? How a private apartment compares with a hotel on cost, Wi-Fi, invoices and commute, with measured drive times.
A business trip of three to ten nights sits in an awkward middle. It is too long to live out of a hotel room comfortably, and too short to bother with a flat. A private apartment is often the better choice for these trips, but not always, and the reasons are worth knowing before you book.
This guide compares the two honestly, and gives you the questions to ask so that you do not discover a problem at 10 pm on arrival.
Where a hotel wins
We will start with the hotel, because there are real reasons to choose one.
- Daily housekeeping and a front desk that is staffed around the clock.
- A gym, a restaurant and a business lounge on site.
- Zero setup. You arrive, you sleep, you leave.
If you are in the city for two nights, landing late and leaving early, a hotel is probably the right call. Our homes are private apartments with a caretaker, not hotels, and we would rather you know that now.
Where a private apartment wins
From about the fourth night, an apartment starts to make sense.
- A kitchen. Most of our homes have one. Over a week, cooking breakfast and a few dinners is cheaper and quicker than eating out for every meal.
- Space. A living area to take a call, spread out papers, or sit with a colleague, without doing everything from the bed.
- A door of your own. Quiet, no corridor, no lobby.
- A longer stay costs less per night. Stays of 7 nights or more get 10% off the nightly rate, and 14 nights or more get 15% off.
- Team stays. Two or three colleagues can share one home instead of booking separate rooms.
Location matters more than the hotel star rating
Most business trips in Delhi NCR go to one of a few places. These are measured driving times from the middle of some of our home areas, on a map at a quiet time of day. Rush hour takes longer, so use them to compare, not to plan to the minute.
| Going to | Nearest of our homes | Measured drive |
|---|---|---|
| DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon | Sector 22, Gurgaon | about 8.5 km, 10 min |
| DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon | Vasant Kunj | about 11 km, 12 min |
| Nehru Place | East of Kailash | about 1.6 km, 3 min |
| Nehru Place | CR Park, Kailash Colony | about 2 km, 4 to 5 min |
| Aerocity | Vasant Kunj | about 6 km, 9 min |
| Connaught Place | Hauz Khas | about 11 km, 13 min |
If your meetings are around Nehru Place, the colonies around Greater Kailash are right next to it. If you work in Cyber City, our Gurgaon homes are close, though we have fewer of them. See the corporate stays page for what we have.
The questions to ask before you book
Whether you choose us or a hotel, put these to the host.
- What time can I check in? Check-in and check-out times are on each of our listings. Early or late arrival is subject to availability and can carry a fee set by the owner, so ask before you book if your flight is at an odd hour.
- How is the Wi-Fi? Every listing has Wi-Fi. If you will be on video calls, ask about the connection in that home.
- Is there a desk or table I can work at? Do not assume. Check the listing photos or ask.
- Who do I call if something is wrong? Our team replies on WhatsApp, and there is a caretaker for each stay.
- Can I get a proper invoice? Share your company GSTIN with our team when you book and we will arrange a GST invoice. Ask for the confirmation number to be on it.
- What is the cancellation tier? Each home is Easy, Moderate or Strict. Meetings move, so check before you pay.
A simple way to decide
If you are away for one or two nights and arriving late, a hotel is usually simpler, because there is a desk at all hours and nothing to arrange. If the trip is a week or more, or the team is several people, a home starts to make sense. You get a kitchen, a living area and one address, and long stays carry a discount: 10% off the nightly rate from 7 nights and 15% from 14 nights.
Compare the real total for your dates, not the headline rate. Add the service fee on our side, and on the hotel side add breakfast, laundry and anything charged separately. Our guide to how pricing works shows each line we charge.
What an apartment does not give you
To keep expectations right:
- Housekeeping is not automatic daily service. Ask how often it happens in the home you want.
- There is no on-site restaurant or gym.
- There is no 24 hour front desk. Our team replies on WhatsApp, and the caretaker handles arrival.
How to book for a team or for yourself
Bookings on Edens Home are approved by the owner before payment is taken, and payment is online, with no cash at the property. The total, including our 14% service fee, is shown before you pay. Every guest shows valid government photo ID at check-in, and bookings are for adults aged 18 or over.
If you are travelling with colleagues, tell us how many and we will suggest one larger home or a few homes close together. Maximum guest numbers are strictly enforced, so give us the real headcount.
Message our team on WhatsApp with your dates, your office location and how many of you are travelling. You can also browse corporate stays or read about monthly stays if the trip is turning into a posting.
