Where to Stay Near AIIMS, Max, Moolchand and Fortis

When you are coming to Delhi for a hospital, the first question is usually the hospital, and the second is where to stay. The two are linked, because South Delhi is large, the traffic is real, and a place that looks close on a map may be a slow drive.

This guide covers the five hospitals families ask us about most, with measured distances from the areas where we have homes. We measured them so that you can choose with real numbers. They are road distances from the middle of each area, on a map at a quiet time of day with no traffic, so rush hour will take longer.

Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket

The nearest of our homes are in Saket and Malviya Nagar, one to two kilometres away. This is a busy area: within about 600 metres of the hospital, at least 20 places to eat, a dozen grocery or bakery shops, nine banks or ATMs and five pharmacies are mapped. Malviya Nagar metro is about 700 metres from the hospital. If you want errands to be easy, this is the most convenient of the five. See stays near Max Saket.

Moolchand Medcity, Lajpat Nagar

Our homes in Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony and Kailash Colony are about two kilometres from Moolchand. Moolchand metro station is about 200 metres from the hospital, and the Lajpat Nagar interchange is about 550 metres away. The market around it is large, with at least 23 places to eat, 21 banks or ATMs, and shops for groceries and medicines within 600 metres. Fortis Hospital and ILBS, Vasant Kunj

Our Vasant Kunj homes are between about one and two kilometres from Fortis, and Mehrauli and Chhatarpur homes are three to four kilometres away. ILBS is a few minutes from Fortis. This is a car neighbourhood. Very few shops are mapped within walking distance of the Fortis gate, and the nearest metro, Chhatarpur, is about two kilometres away, though under one kilometre from ILBS. AIIMS and Safdarjung

We should be plain: our homes are not close to the gate. The nearest, in Hauz Khas, are about 4 kilometres from AIIMS, a drive of about 6 minutes at a quiet time, and about 3 kilometres from Safdarjung. AIIMS has its own metro station right at the hospital. AIIMS also runs rest houses for attendants, and it is worth asking about them before you choose. What about hospitals in Gurgaon?

At most three of our homes are within a 5 kilometre drive of Medanta, Artemis or Fortis Memorial in Gurgaon. We have not made pages for them. If your hospital is in Gurgaon, message us and we will tell you honestly whether we have a sensible home for you.

How to choose between them

Start with the hospital, then look at what you need.

• If you want shops and food on foot, Saket and Lajpat Nagar are the easiest.
• If you want a quiet, green street and do not mind a cab, Vasant Kunj, Mehrauli and Hauz Khas suit better.
• If you will cook, pick a home with a kitchen. Most of ours have one, and the listing shows what each includes.
• If you do not know the length of the stay, the price helps. Stays of 7 to 13 nights get 10% off the nightly rate, and stays of 14 nights or more get 15% off. A 14% service fee is added, and the full total shows before you pay.

What every home shares

• Private homes, not shared rooms.
• Valid government photo ID from every guest at check-in. The booker must be 18 or over.
• Owner approval before payment, and online payment with no cash at the property.
• A cancellation tier on every listing. Changing dates counts as cancelling and booking again under that tier, so ask before you change anything.
